I'll tell you what

I've seen plenty of Twilight parodies, and I can't say that I really liked any of them. I didn't expect to like this one either, but to my surprise, I legitimately laughed out loud. It's a rare occurrence for me, especially with a parody. Well done.

Bogswallop responds:

awesome. Glad it made you laugh :>

That's some good stuff right there

Nothing like a good western, and it was really cool to see a spaghetti cowboy action concept juxtaposed with your minimalistic style. Sure it doesn't have a Shakespearean story arc, but when you only have 3 odd minutes alloted to you, you've got to make it interesting. And you did just that.

AlmightyHans responds:

thanks man. honestly, one of the things that fueled me to do this was that western you made, even though i gave you crap about it in the review. that only meant that i actually cared for it. i tend to do that, get nit picky with things i appreciate. Your movie definitely took part in me considering to make my own western. thanks for your review.

That's some hot shit

You never cease to disappoint. Clean line-work, fluid animation, sharp humor, excellent voice acting. It's always a pleasant surprise to stumble upon a new animation of yours on the portal. Keep up the good work.

Sexual-Lobster responds:

thanks biff!

It gave me a good chuckle

Very short and simple. Smooth animation, it went well with the music, and I found it funny. iDrops was a good touch. Good short, keep 'em up. Unless that stops you from working on Exile.

RiverJordan responds:

Nah, well i was off of flash for the longest time because of College art portfolio's, sickness and japan trip, but im just now starting to get back on the flash horse and (trying to) power through exile! :D

But due to the longness of exile chapters, these lil shorts give me some temporary happiness as it takes sooo long to make.. exile.. chapters :D

Ok now i'm rambling XD

Good Work

I liked it a lot. You used some sweet effects, especially with the gun fire. It ended kinda abruptly but I know what its like to work under deadlines, so it's not a big deal to me. Keep it up.

You're going to have to expect some 0's

With this type of movie, some people are going to be offended. Hell, I was offended, but that's what makes it funny. Some people just need to relax and not take things so seriously. I literally cringed at the end, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. Good work as per usual.

LazyMuffin responds:

Cringed? more like wished it was you, pfft.
THANKS.

Highly Provocative

Taking the viewer and thrusting them into the middle of a three part story is your style, and I dig it. Though I have no idea what comic this was based on, I found it both hilarious and horrifying in its commentary on the human condition and the sacred bond between father and son. And elephant cock.

Sexual-Lobster responds:

its actually supposed to be a trunk, but the silhouette of a trunk from front on looks like a gigantic cock so i expect everyone to think cock before trunk, that's only natural.

I enjoyed it

You put a lot of effort into this and it shows, and your directing skills are definitely improving. It was a good length, and you keep the story interesting, so keep up the good work.

There are a few things I'd like to suggest. One thing that is rather noticeable is your line quality of the characters. A lot of the times they look like the preliminary sketches that you'd use so that you can draw over them. Consider after drawing a character to turn the lines light blue or red, and trace over them again with solid strokes. It will drastically increase your professionalism.

Also, the voice acting was good. Your people do good work. However, I'd watch how they interact with each other, and try to move away from it coming off forced. Such as in the beginning, they all meet up together with a long pause that ends in laughter. Also, yelling to yourself about others while people are most definitely still around seems a bit unbelievable. However, for the most part it seemed pretty well done.

Lastly, and this is just an aside. Maybe work on your color selection. I see you use a lot of unsaturated colors, such as true green true blue, and so on. If you choose a specific color palette, it'll look more unified. Such as earth tones, blues, reds, greens. It makes it easier to animate with a more limited color palette, but also makes it look more believable.

This is a pretty long review, so I'll end it here. Good work, and keep it going. You're improving, and I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this. Take it easy.

RiverJordan responds:

Wow, that was a really good review, I definitely appreciate it. I'm not sure if i'm supposed to go and address each paragraph, because all of them are basically "That's really good advice, I'll put that to use in the future =D"

Thanks a lot, and i'm definetly looking forward to another part of Outlaw in the near future ^_^

I enjoyed it thuroughly

I can tell you put a lot of time into that. Very good choice of music, and it was psychedelic to say the least. I'd say what brought it all together though was the goatse reference. Good job.

Haroshi responds:

I'm sure if I had left the goatse hands out this movie would have been a disaster. :P

Thanks for the review.

Not too shabby at all

Though I have seen better graphics in my day, you had some pretty good scene changes. That along with the musical timing made up for what was lacking in the drawing department. The story wasn't the most unique, but I'd imagine it was fun to make, so I can't blame you for animating it. I have a few suggestions for further work that would instantly help your graphics.

First, every color you used was extremely unsaturated, as it there wasn't much gray in it. Using bright reds, greens, blues, and so on make it look less professional. Life isn't as colorful as that, so when you're working in flash, find the color you want in the color mixer, and drag the little marker down half way, and saturate the color a bit. Secondly, characters with big heads, and arms, a dot for the nose, a pointed chin, and a small torso are over-done. Try to add a bit of your own style to it, and vary your line width. Bam, your graphics will look good immediately.

Hope the review helped. Keep up the good work.

P.S. - I've been animating for a while, but never really got the hang of synchronizing sound over a long period of time. What method did you use?

JunkFoodKing responds:

I've been perfecrting the anime style of mine for a bit. But, I do have an american style. Plus, isn't life better colorful when it's a cartoon? Thanks for the advice, though!

To synch sound over along period of time, I just import it, put it in a blank keyframe, and then drag the sound out by extending it with keyframes.

Talkin' 'bout cream cheese sandwiches.
